London calling: Mind the Gap!

Last month, from April 22nd to 25th, students from classes 1, 2, & 4, 11th year, from Dr. Manuel Gomes de Almeida Secondary School, participated in an unforgettable, educational and cultural adventure to the British capital: London.
The trip began on April 22nd with a flight from Porto to London, followed by a transfer to the hotel. After lunch, the group set off on a walking tour of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Trafalgar Square, Downing Street, Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Westminster, St. James Park and Buckingham Palace. The day ended with a panoramic visit to the London Eye, dinner at The Albert pub & restaurant, and some free time afterwards.
On April 23rd, the students dove into the magical world of Harry Potter, followed by a visit to Camden Town. In the afternoon, we explored the famous Madame Tussaud’s wax museum, and then walked to Covent Garden. Dinner took place at ROMA restaurant, and the evening was concluded with the musical Mamma Mia!
The third day, April 24th, began with a visit to the Natural History Museum. After lunch, the group explored the Science Museum, followed by iconic locations like Regent Street, Oxford Street and Carnaby Street. Dinner was held at Cucina Restaurant, and the night was spent exploring Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square, including stops at the Hard Rock Café, M&M´s World and the LEGO Store.
On the final day, April 25th, the group visited London´s modern Financial District at Canary Wharf, then explored the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. After lunch, we headed to the airport for our return flight to Portugal.
This trip gave us, students, a unique opportunity to expand our cultural and historical knowledge, develop autonomy in an international setting, and build up group spirit. It was for sure a memorable experience for us.
